Urinary Bladder Flashcards
1
Q
Site: when empty
A
In lesser pelvis
2
Q
Site: when distended
A
- It becomes a pelvi-abdominal organ
- Strips anterior abdominal wall peritoneum and ascends to lower anterior part of abdomen
3
Q
Arterial supply
A
- Superior vesical artery
- Inferior vesical artery
- Branches from Obturator artery
4
Q
Superior vesical artery
A
- Arises from proximal patent part of umbilical artery of internal iliac artery
- Supplies superior surface
5
Q
Inferior vesicle artery
A
- Arises from anterior division of internal iliac artery
- Supplies inferolateral surfaces in male
- This surface is supplied by vaginal and uterine arteries in female
6
Q
Venous drainage
A
Vesical venous plexus (in fascia covering urinary bladder sides) which drains into internal iliac vein
7
Q
Lymph drainage
A
- Upper parts: drain to external iliac lymph nodes
- Lower parts: drain to internal iliac lymph nodes
- Some vessels pass from neck to sacral lymph nodes
8
Q
Nerve supply: Parasympathetic
A
- From S2, S3, S4 spinal segments along nervi erigentes (pelvic splanchnic nerve)
- It contracts bladder wall and relaxes sphincter (empties bladder)
9
Q
Nerve supply: Sympathetic
A
- From T10 to L2 spinal segments
- It relaxes bladder wall and contracts sphincter
10
Q
Applied anatomy: Cystoscopy
A
Inside visualization of:
1. Urinary bladder
2. Mucous membrane
3. 2 ureteric orifices
4. Urethral meatus
