In Spanish, there are two ways to express the future. One is the simple future tense, which consists of one word and is used more in writing. The other way is by using the informal future, which consists of three words and is more commonly used in spoken Spanish.
Simple Future: Correré tres millas.
Informal Future: Voy a correr tres millas.

How is the informal future formed

A

The informal future is formed by the verb ir conjugated in the present indicative, the preposition a, and the infinitive of the action to be performed. It is roughly the same as saying that someone “is going to .” This is a more colloquial way of indicating what will happen. ir + a + infinitive
