A

The Cuban Studies Center is also in New York. Many of today’s Cuban artists are still living in their home country, so it’s the Center’s mission to bring Cuban art and culture to people who wouldn’t otherwise get to see it. I have great memories of my visit to Cuba, and this Center is a way to relive that experience while also taking in the amazing Cuban posters and photographs that are on display.

Pablo Picasso

A

Pablo Picasso is an artist from my home country, Spain. You may be familiar with Picasso’s work already. He was a very talented artist who worked in stage design, sculpture, ceramics, and painting. If that’s not enough, Picasso was also a writer! He wrote both poetry and dramatic plays, but today he is mostly known for his paintings. You may know Picasso as the co-founder of cubism. Cubism is a style which is characterized by single perspective and geometric shapes.

David Alfaro Siquieros is another favorite artist of mine. He was born in Mexico. He painted large outdoor murals on public buildings in Mexico. Although he was an artist, Siquieros fought as a soldier in the Mexican Revolution. After he returned, he continued his art studies and completed dozens of paintings with social and political subjects.
