Dominican amber comes from a species of tree that is now extinct, and it is known to be transparent. Much of the amber from the Caribbean comes from this same tree.

Dominican amber comes in several different colors. I bought an amber bracelet that has red, green, and yellow amber. There is even a blue amber, but it is quite rare and very expensive.

My favorite fossil is the one of a lizard preserved perfectly in amber. That lizard fossil is between 30 and 40 million years old! The museum has incredible specimens, and I have never seen anything like them.

Salomé’s parents were great influences on her literary life; her father was writer Nicolás Ureña de Mendoza, and her mother taught her from a very young age. This early exposure to literature and education shaped Salomé’s interests throughout her life.

. The main themes of her poetry were taken from her own life story. Themes such as patriotism, love and tenderness toward her son, the importance of family, and la República Dominicana are quite present in her work.
