Remember that adjectives in Spanish take the same gender and number as the nouns they modify. In the cases of mi, tu, and su¸ they will just take the same number as the noun they modify. The possessive adjectives can come before or after the nouns they modify, but they change slightly:
- la hermana mĂa
- los primos vuestros

In the Spanish-speaking world, children are often named after a saint of the Catholic Church. Not only do we celebrate nuestros cumpleaños, but we also celebrate our saint’s day. This is called el dĂa del santo or onomástico.

This special birthday tradition for girls who turn 15 is known as la quinceañera, and it is very similar to a sweet 16 birthday in the United States. The quinceañera celebrates a girl’s coming of age, and it is an important event for girls throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Celebration of the quinceañera takes a lot of planning, as it is an important formal event, and families spend a great deal of money for the celebration.

The celebration includes food, decorations, a cake, maids who accompany the girl, and formal attire. People generally wear formal clothing to the celebration, and the girl who is celebrating her 15th birthday wears a formal gown
