Turbine Cooling (TC) Flashcards
What will happen to the TC pumps during a loss of power to the non class buses?
They will be load shed and the TC pump that is green flagged will restart 15 seconds after power is restored if TC pressure is < 55psig.
How are the TC pump discharge valves positioned for pump start and pump stop evolutions.
Disch valve is closed on initial pump start to prevent water hammer.
During pump swapping, the disch valve is open when the stby pump is started.
Disch valve is closed on pump stop to prevent check valve slamming.
What is the auto-start pressure of the TC pump, and how long until it starts?
55 psig
starts 15 after seconds
(only green flagged pump will start)
What are the time delays associated with the non-class closed loop cooling water pumps?
Plant Cooling Water Pump………… 20 seconds
Nuclear Cooling Water Pump…….. 10 seconds
Turbine Cooling Water Pump…….. 15 seconds
What does the TC system cool?
- Main Turbine lube oil coolers (2)
- EHC fluid coolers (2)
- Circulating Water Pump motor lube oil coolers (4)
- Heater Drain Pump motor lube oil coolers (2)
- Instrument Air compressor jacket coolers and after-coolers (3)
- Service air system jacket coolers (1)
- Feedwater Pump Turbine lube oil coolers (2)
- Condensate Pump motor lube oil coolers (3)
- Gland steam packing exhauster (1)
* Isolated phase bus cooling coils (2)
* Generator hydrogen coolers (2) duplex - Generator Stator Coolers (2)
* Non-nuclear related sample coolers (4)
What are the power supplies for the TC pumps?
- TCN-P01A is powered from NBN-S01
- TCN-P01B is powered from NBN-S02
How is temperature maintained in the TC Heat Exchanger?
Temperature control is accomplished by adjusting the turbine cooling water flow through the heat
exchanger by adjusting the HX outlet and bypass valves.
What is the position of the discharge valve when starting the first TC pump during system startup?
The pump that is going to be started has its discharge valve closed when the pump is started.
