Why is only one Letdown Control valve in service during normal operations?
During normal operation, only one LD Control Valve (110P/110Q) is selected for operation, as
sufficient differential pressure between normal RCS operating pressure and the pressures in the
CVCS system to drive letdown flow at the needed flowrate.** Having only one Letdown Control
Valve aligned for operation ensures that the relief capacity of CHN-PSV-345, the Letdown
Intermediate Pressure Relief valve, is not exceeded.**
