Misc Flashcards
What input does PPS give SESS?
initiation relays. If they fail, no alarms or lights
If a SESS valve has been overriden and changed position, what lights will be on the SESS panel?
Blue - SEAS when the valve is moved from its actuated position
If a manual SESS is input, what light is on?
white alarm, no blue
Unit 1 is at 100% power with all systems in a normal lineup.
A large demand on the Demineralized Water system has dropped pressure at the pump discharge to 93 psig.
Based on these conditions, the standby DW pump is ___(1)___, and the system low pressure alarm is ___(2)___.
A. (1) running, (2) clear
B. (1) running, (2) in alarm
C. (1) not running, (2) clear
D. (1) not running, (2) in alarm
A
Which of the following loads is supplied by the Domestic Water (DS) system?
A. Condensate Pump seals
B. Turbine Building AHU air washer makeup
C. Non-nuclear sample coolers
D. Stator Cooling water makeup
B
The rest are DW
Which of the following loads is supplied by the Demineralized Water (DW) system?
A. Eyewash stations
B. Spray Pond makeup
C. Normal Chilled Water makeup
D. Instrument Air alternate cooling
C
The rest are DS
What is the backup cooling source for the Instrument Air Compressors?
DS - Domestic Service Water
If a unit loses DW water, can WRF supply water to the header?
Yes
State the design basis for Station Black Out
- SBO only assumed on one unit. (LOOP and both DGs fail – loss of all AC)
- Required by 10CFR50.63 (cope with SBO, core cooling and CTMT integrity)
What is the Station Black Out coping time?
- FSAR – 16 hour SBO coping time.
o Assumes one SBOG is started within 1 hour.
Can the Station Black Out Generators supply U2 and U3 at the same time?
- SBOGs operation coordinated through Unit 1
- SBOGs cannot supply U2/U3 simultaneously
- If a unit’s NBN-X03 XFMR is faulted, SBOG cannot supply that unit.
On a Loss of Offsite Power (LOOP), how long do you have to start a SBOG?
- LOOP: energize NAN-S07 within 1 hour to maintain the SBOG batteries.
In the SBOG, where is the air/fuel mixture ignited?
- Compressor has blades that turn like a fan to pull air into the gas turbine.
- Air is forced into the combustor, where fuel mixes with the compressed air.
- Air/fuel mixture is ignited in the combustor
- Burning gases rapidly expand out of combustor into the turbine. Gases transfer energy to the turbine blades.
At what SBOG speed is the turbine “self-sustaining” ?
Acceleration
* 66% speed- energy of the hot gases from the combustor is enough to maintain turbine speed. “Self-Sustaining Speed.” Turbine starting system disengages. Pre/Post Lube Oil Pump stops. Atomizing air is now supplied from the compressor.
* 400°F (turbine 3rd stage) - ignition system switches off.
* 90% speed - Bleed Air Valve closes, Variable Vane Controller actuates open.
What supplies cooling to the Fuel Building normal supply fans?
Normal Supply Fans (2)
* Two 50% capacity AHUs (19,000 cfm)
* Located on Aux Bldg roof
* Cool outside air from 113°F (max) to 80°F.
* Uses evaporative cooler. Pump auto starts > 80°F to supply Domestic Water (DS) to the cooler.
