Radiation Monitoring (SQ) Flashcards
What is the power supply for the safety related Radiation Monitoring System?
- Safety related RMS:
o Class 120Vac (PN) for RM and 480V (PH) for sample pumps
What powers the Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) Server and Control Room workstation?
- RMS server and components
o SW-1 in Normal (PHA-M33)
o SW-1 in Alternate (NHN-M26) - MCR workstations
o Normal PHA-M33
o Loss of power – unplug and use non-class power outlet
What is the basis for the Effluent Monitor set-points?
- Set-points prevent exceeding 10CFR100 limits.
What kind of radiation do Area Monitors detect?
Area Monitors
* Measure gamma radiation
What Radiation Monitors have Tech Spec implications?
Ru-1 - 3.4.16 RCS Leak Detection
Ru-29/30 - 3.3.9 CREFAS
Ru-37/38 - 3.3.8 CPIAS
Ru-148/149 - 3.3.10
Ru-150/151 - 3.3.10 PAM
What Radiation Monitors cause an auto-actuation?
Ru-7 ASCRT Re-aligns AS Condensate Return to LRS (isolates path to main condenser)
Ru-12 WGDT Discharge - Isolates WGDT path (closes UV-34A/34B).
Ru-29/30 - Actuates CREFAS.
Ru-31/145 - Actuates FBEVAS (cross trip CREFAS)
Ru-37/38 - Actuates CPIAS (cross trip CREFAS)
Ru-141 Ch 1 - Ch. 1: Diverts CAR exhaust flow through the post filter blower unit. (Thru Filter) alarms at 1 gpm leak with 1% failed fuel (1440 gpd)
What monitors are required per the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual?
- Requires the RUs and the flow rate monitors.
o If flow monitor non-functional, estimate flow rate every 4 hours. - RU-12 WGDT release
o If non-functional, tank can be released if two independent: sample analysis, release rate calcs, and valve line-up - RU-143 / 144 Plant Vent Low Range & Mid and High Range Gas
o Required at ALL times - RU-145 / 146 FB Vent Low Range & Mid and High Range Gas
o Required in Modes 1-4
o Required if irradiated fuel is in Fuel Building (basically at all times)
How would an RCS leak into Nuclear Cooling water be detected? What if EW has been cross connected?
Ru-6 alarm for NC
Ru-2/3 if cross-connected to EW
