Transcription Flashcards
What is the general form in how the dna information is copied
The dna has a specific bases which are then copied through transcription creating a pre rna molecule this is then splice and then attach to ribosome ribosome reads codon in translation process
How does transcription take place
The dna strand unwind due to helicase
Only on of the strand act as a template the nucleotides attach to the exposed nucleotides on the dna molecule
The Rna polymerase start at the start codon and join the nucleotide together in condensation using energy to drive the process and continue joining the nucleotide until reach stop codon the nucleotide chain the detaches
The pre rna molecule is then splice as it contains introns which don’t code for anything and will cause the protein to be non functional
