Dna And Chromosome Flashcards
How do dna differs in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
Dna molecule are circular and float freely in the cytoplasm whereas in eukaryotic the dna is protein bound as wrapped around his tones and packed into chromosomes
What is the chromosome structure
It is a linear structure usually can’t be seen unless dividing then seen as sister chromatid contain dna wrapped around his tones forming his tone dna complex this is then coiled and hooped and packed into chromosomes
What is a homologous chromosome
The same gene but different version of a genes one chromosome comes from each parent and form a homologous pair this number is 23 pairs and 46 chromosomes in diploid state
What is an allel
Different versions of the same gene any change in a base sequence will lead to a mutation and a different version of the allele if the allele is for a protein it will lead to a primary structure which will lead to a different secondary structure and in turn a different specific tertiary structure
