phagocytosis Flashcards
1
Q
what do phagocytes do
A
they ingest the pathogen and destroy it
2
Q
how do foreign pathogen attract phagocytes
A
the damaged abnormal cells act as an attractant causing phagocytes to move towards the pathogen
3
Q
how does phagocytosis occur
A
the phagocytes have receptors on their surface that recognse and attatch to foreign cells and engulf them forming a vesicle lysosomes move toward the vesicle and fuse with the vesicle releasing its contents which include lysosymes free radicls and hcl the soluble products are absorbed into the cytoplasm of the phagocyte
4
Q
what is presented on the cell surface membrane
A
some of the foreign antigen of the pathogen
