Indications & Contraindications
Indications:
Administer with D50 to severe alcoholics to prevent Wernicke’s encephalopathy and Korsakoff’s psychosis
Contraindications:
None in EMS

Side Effects/Adverse Reactions:
Hypotension, cardiovascular collapse
Pulmonary edema
Sweating, restlessness,
nausea, allergic reaction

Adult & Pedi Dose:
(ADULT) 50-100 mg IV over 5 min
(PEDI) 10-25 mg IV over 5 min

Given prior to dextrose to facilitate uptake if both indicated
