Mechanism of Action:
Depresses reticular activating system (RAS) of the brain and potentiates GABA ⇒ causes sedation
ETOMIDATE (Amidate®)
Pharmacokinetics
- Onset of Action = 10-20 seconds
- Peak Effects < 1 minute
- Duration of Effect = 3-5 minutes
- Half-Life = 30-70 minutes

Indications & Contraindications
Indications/Field Use:
• Induction agent for RSI
Contraindications:
• Hypersensitivity

Side Effects/Adverse Reactions:
Myoclonic skeletal muscle movement
apnea, hyperventilation, hypoventilation
laryngospasm
HTN, hypotension
tachycardia, bradycardia
N+V
ETOMIDATE (Amidate®)
Adult & Pedi Dose:
(ADULT & PEDI): 0.1-0.3mg/kg IV, IO over 15-30 seconds

Precautions:
Caution with hypotension, severe asthma, or severe cardiovascular disease
