Mechanism of Action:

A
  • Inhibits platelet aggregation by blocking the formation of Thromboxane A2 ⇒ which causes platelet aggregation and arterial constriction
  • COX inhibitor ⇒ inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and reduces spread of inflammation

Indications/Field Use:

  • New chest pain suggestive of AMI/ACS

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Relatively contraindicated w/ active ulcer disease and asthma
