how to do lateral ear canal resection
- will shorten length of canal and promote better drainage in the horizonatal canal
- need to fix underlying otitis media
- need to have patent horizontal ear canal
how to do TECA
need to remove ear canal and open and clean bulla
This minimizes the chance of postoperative fistulation
complications: hemorrhage, facial nerve paralysis, infection, fistula formation
where do polyps in the ear come from
middle ear
can grow out into ear canal or into the nasopharynx
can be associated with signs of URI, ear disease in cats
how to treat polyp
pull and clean out bulla
careful for post op bleeding will drop into nasopharynx, make sure clear before extubating
