Tension Diagonal

Although this may be performed with an inflated fire hose, increased results have been seen with tensioned lines.

just off the water

The tension diagonal is generally a rope which is tensioned across a channel at a downstream angle of no more than 45 degrees to the current flow or vector.

It should be emphasized that this need not be a high tension system. If the angle is set correctly a simple mechanical advantage system for tensioning is sufficient (i.e., 3:1 system, trucker’s hitch, etc.).
