TB 104 URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE

A Confined Space (as per 29 CFR 1910.146) is defined as:

An area large enough and so configured that an employee can bodily enter and perform assigned work.

Has limited or restricted means for rescue or exit. This would include tanks, vessels, storage bins, hoppers, vaults or pits. ‘

Is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. Examples include sewers, ship holds, manholes, industrial spaces, storm drains, ovens, or furnaces.
