  • Chromosomal distribution after first and second meiotic division
  • XX = female
    • Once copy inactivated as a Barr Body
    • At least two copies of some of the genes are needed for normal ovarian differentiation
  • XY = male
    • At least one copy of the X chromosome for males is necessary for normal testicular differentiation

    • Ovary
      • granulosa cells - follicle development
    • Testis
      • sertoli cells - Mullerian regression
