What is done as you reach 3 minutes from a turn point/pin point?
Map out, track out (get out your map and start looking for your track)
- Use the clock (At X mins I should be … ,) to map (Map has a big hill to the right) to ground (I see a big hill to the right IAW map)
If possible start COAL checks to get ahead of the ball
What ate the COAL checks?
C - Compasses
O - Orientation
A - Altitude
L - LSALT
What are the CLEAROF checks and when are they completed?
Completed once past the pin/turn point
C - Compass (confirm next HDG, TP only)
L - Log (overhead, next PP/WP, TP ETA times, fuel)
E - Engine
A - Altimetry (LSALT)
R - Radios
O - Oxygen (check flow, connections, mask, EO)
F - Fuel
What are CLR checks and when are they completed?
Completed once established on outbound track (departure)
C - Compass/orientation
L - Log (write down departure time, in outbound within 5Nm -1 mins, in between 5-8NM-2 mins)
R - Radio (Departure report if required)
