What can be used to determine when to level off in the climb/descent?
- 10% of current RoC or RoD
- By assessing the altimeter needle and how much time you have before reaching target altitude
If you aren’t given cleared operating on departure, what are your actions?
Maintain below 6000ft, remain tracking to the airspace
On climb out, explain the transitions between different attitudes, PWR and IAS up until S&L.
- T/O Attitude w/ 100% TQ up to 175KIAS
- At 175KIAS set mid mirrors to hold 180KTS w/ 100% TQ
- At level off, set top of AOA at 180KTS w/ 100% TQ
- Continue to accelerate trimming up until 240KIAS then set 53% TQ
If you are given cleared operating, what are your actions from here?
Generally maintain the climb and level off at 6000ft unless flying higher is required.
Once radio calls have been made and the aircraft is trimmed and climbing towards the correct area, what are your actions?
Administrate
1. ALT Sel - 15,000
2. Comm 1 - Stud 7

On departure, what is your radio call and who are you talking too?
You: “Sale Approach, ROLR XX, passing X,XXXft”
Approach: “ROLR XX, identified, cleared operating”
You: “Cleared operating, ROLR XX”
Before turning towards the area, what are your actions?
- Confirm trimmed Hands off
- Complete a lookout
What are the stages/step of the departure and what happens within them?
- Takeoff
After T/O checks - Set climb attitude
Trim H/O - Enter the left/right turn
Lookout
R/T during the turn - Exit turn, maintain climb
SYS page, ALT sel, STUD 7 - Level off
