IF Holding Gouge MBs (RNAV) Flashcards
What is the standard hold? (Time, turn direction, max speed, AoB)
- 1 minute legs (1.5 if above FL140)
- Race track pattern to the right unless specified
- Take approx 4 mins (turn 180 = 1 min)
- Max speed = 230KTS
- Rate 1 turn = 20Aob below 160KTS
- Fly a ground track, 10 kts of headwind, add 10 seconds to that leg, inverse if tail wind
DELETE
What is the difference between fly by and fly over waypoints and how are they visually different?
Fly over WPs have a circle which goes around the star symbol for the WP wile fly by WPs don’t have this circle
In the FMS WPs that are fly over have a “/o” next to them
Using Ground speed, what is the math to calculate the RoD for a 3º approach?
Divide the first two numbers of your GS by 2
E.g. 140KTS = 14/2 = 700fpm, 200KTS = 20/2 = 1000fpm
DELETE Key points for an RNAV approach brief
- Name of approach + date not required
- Initial tracking intentions, requirements for the hold
- Final approach track (086/266, Step alts not required)
- Required vis/MDA
- Actions if not visual
- Published missed approach (read this out)
- Read out any notes
What scale is used on the LMFD during the approach?
10NM until 5NM point hits the IAF then configure and set 5nm for the rest of the approach
In the hold, what are your considerations?
Have I been cleared for the approach or just in the hold?
Have I done my AAABCs?
When do you set the missed approach alt on the approach?
Once below the missed approach alt, only because it’s annoying if it beeps as you go through
