RWY 09 - Edge of lake Wellington (near the mouth of the river)
RWY 04 - Longford overpass
What are the special use/notable airspace around ESL?
- RTA N & S: NE of the CIRA, activated by NOTAM, SFC - 6000ft
- R391A - E of the CIRA, activate by NOTAM, NOTAM - NOTAM
- R391B - E of the CIRA, activate by NOTAM, NOTAM - NOTAM
- Low Flying area: SW of the CIRA, SFC - 2000ft
- Longford Lane - SFC to 2000ft
- Princes Route - W of the CIRA, SFC to 2000ft
- D353 - N of the CIRA, SFC - 1500ft
How do you know when you are 10NM out and what are your actions at this point?
- 10NM is shown on the TACAN in the bottom right of the PFD

Above 2000ft traffic and weather dependant
Once the IP has been identified, what are you actions?
- Enter a descent to 1500ft

ATC: ROLR XX, sale centre, cleared visual approach, left initial RWY XX
You: Cleared visual approach, left initial, RWYXX, ROLR XX
What is the radio call made at 10NM DME on recovery?
You: Sale Tower, ROLR XX, 10NM SE, tracking left/right initial RWY XX
ATC: ROLR XX, Sale Tower, no circuit traffic
As you turn towards the circuit at the IP, what radio call is made?
You: ROLR XX, Left/right initial

- @200KIAS roll to 45º AoB
- @180KIAS A/B in
- @165KTS set 25% TQ
- Rollout approx 160KTS
When do you complete your FIRARA checks?
- Checks are completed on the descent if transiting the airspace
- In the area if near too the IP
During the recovery, when do you complete lookouts?
- Complete a lookout before entering a turn, descent and climb.
- Maintain a scan of DLINK should traffic be more than usual
