muscles Flashcards
platysma (N, A most important)
O: deep fascia covering pec major and deltoid
I: lower margin of body of mandible/blends with risoreus/below chin
N: cervical branch of facial nerve (CN VII)
A: depresses mandible, draws down lower lip and angle of mouth
trapezius (A, N)
A: SUP- elevates, upwardly rotates scapula // MIDDLE- retracts scapula // INF- depresses scapula, rotates scapula superiorly
N: spinal accessory n (CN XI)
sternocleidomastoid
O: upper part of manubrium, middle 1/3 of clavicle
I: mastoid process, lateral part of superior nuchal line
N: spinal accessory n (CN XI), ventral rami of C2-C3 (proprioceptive)
A: together- flex head at atlanto-occipital joint, flex cervical part of vertebral column
separate- moves face to opposite side
scalene muscles
O: transverse tubercles of cervical vertebrae
I: 1st/2nd rib (middle,anterior/posterior)
A: laterally bend neck, elevate 1st/2nd rib during heavy respiration
N: motor branches of cervical/brachial plexus
longus colli
I: attach to adjacent cervical vertebrae
A: flex cervical column
longus capitus
O: base of occipital bone
I: transverse processes of cervical vertebrae
A: flexes skull on C1
