mr tweedlale-paper 1 Flashcards
information processing
method by which data from environment is collected and untiled
e.g natbell player looks where defenders are standing and where best to postion themselves before recieving ball
what three parts is information processing divided into
input
decision making
output
input stage
where perfromer picks ip senses by use of environment
environment holds info called display
display includes things such as condition of pitch , opposition, crowd, ball, officals
senses
info picked up from display using senses
senses used to cp;;ect info collectively-receptor systems
sight (vision)
auditory (hearing)
touch
balance
kinesthesis
sense of vision
perfromer can pick ip flight of the ball, psotion of opponent
sense of hearing/auditory
player may hear call from team mate
sound of refferees whisstle
what type of senses are both sight and auditory
external senses as picked up from the environment
what are the inernal senses collectively known as
proprioreceptors
provide intrinsic info about touc balance and kinathesis
sense of touch
used to feel grip on ball
feel of the springboard
sense of balance
e.g perfomer making free throw must be a=balanced to take accurate shot at net
or gynamst needs balcne on competing on beam
sense of kinesthesis
feel for movement
sense from within a performer
relay info about body position
helps gymnast aware during a tumble turn
decision making
second stage of input processing
performer must make decision based on all info collected from senses
must pick most important aspects of the 5 senses they pick up
process of selective attention is important during this stage
what is selctive attention
where perfomer seperates relevent info with irrelevant info
filtering process that indentifies info needed for perfomer and sisregards less important parts
e.g focusing on oppotion and flight of shuutelcock rather then the crowd
selective attention in begginers and experts
experts-selective attention process is automatic
perfomer can learn by focusing more on important stimulus
if stimulus made more bright, loud will develop art of concentration
benefits of selective attention
improves reaction time significantly
