Lecture 5. Hip + Femoral + Leg Flashcards
What are the 3 components of the hipbone. Describe them
- Ilium: Superior part of the hip bone
- Pubis/ Pubic bone: antro-inferior part of the bone
- Ischium: postro-inferior part of the hipbone
Where do the 3 components of the hipbone ( pubis, ischium, ilium) join together
Acetabulum. It is a cartilaginous region in the hipbone.
What is the superior border of the ilium called?
Iliac crest
What is the inferior portion of the iliac crest called. (anterior end).
ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine.)
Identify where the ASIS, AIIS, PSIS, PIIS
ASIS: anterior superior iliac spine
AIIS: anterior inferior iliac spine
PSIS: posterior superior iliac spine
PIIS: posterior inferior iliac spine
What does the ischial spine separate?
greater sciatic notch and lesser sciatic notch
What structure separates the greater and lesser sciatic notch?
ischial spine
What is the bony plate that belongs to both the ischial and pubic bone called
ischialpubic ramis
Where is the iliopsoas muscle located
It is located at the iliac fossa.
What is the point where the auricular surfaces of the hip bone and sacral called.
sacral-iliac joint
What is the foreman of the hip bone called
obturator foramen
What type of bone is the hip bone?
irregular bone
Name the components of the pelvic brim
- sacral promontory
- ala
- medial border of the hipbone /arcate line
- pectineal line
- pubic crest
What is contained in the true pelvis
uterus, bladder
What is found in the false pelvis
ovaries
What is the space surrounded by the pelvic brim called?
superior pelvic apperture
What are the bordering margins in the pelvic outlet
- ischial-pubic ramus
- ischial tuberosity
- ischial spine
Where is the true pelvis
It is the space between the pelvic inlet and pelvic outlet
What tubercle is above the medial epicondyle of the femur
adductor tubercle
What is the structure that separates the lateral and medial condyle ( at the posterior end of the femur)
intercondylar fossa
What are the bones that compose the leg
fibula and tibia
Where are the quadriceps muscles attached to in the tibia
tibial tuberosity
identify the medial and lateral malleoulus
LN
Which bone receives your weight and transfers it to the feet
tibia
Which bone is the best bone for bone grafts
fibula ( superior 2/3 of shaft)
How many bones are there in the tarsal area
There are 7 bones: trochlea of talus calcaneus cuboid navicular lateral cuneiform intermediate cuneiform medial cuneiform
What are the 3 portions of the pedicle/foot
tarsals, metatarsals and phalanges
