Hydrocortisone Classification?
Corticosteroid, anti-inflammatory
Hydrocortisone Mechanism?
Supresses the migration of neutrophils and decreases lymphocyte colony proliferation, thus inhibits systhesis of pro-inflammatory enzymes such as cytokines, interleukin, and interferon.
Hydrocortisone Indications?
- Shock due to adrenal insufficiency
- Status asthmaticus
Hydrocortisone Contraindications?
- System fungal infection
- Purpura
- Hypersensitivity
Hydrocortisone Side Effects/Precautions?
- Headache
- Vertigo
- CHF Exacerbation
- Hypertension
- Fluid & Salt Renention
- Nausea
- Cushings Syndrome

In CT Protocols:
Adrenal Insufficiency
Stress Dose: 100mg
Other conditions: 4mg/kg

2mg/kg
