Lorazepam Mechanism?
Binds to specific sites on GABA Type A receptors and via an allosteric affect it hyperpolarizes to potentiate the effects for GABA resulting in sedation and suppression of convulsions.

-Restraint
-TBI
-Hyperthemia
-Sympathomimetic/Anticholinergic OD
-TCP/DC Cardioversion
-Organophosphate
-Anxiety
-Alcohol Withdrawl
-Seizure
Lorazepam Contraindications?
-Hypersensitivity
-Respiratory Insufficiency
-Hypotension
Lorazepam Side Effects/Precautions?
-Dizziness
-Drowsiness
-Confusion
-Hypotension
-Nausea/Vomiting
-Respiratory depression
Lorazepam Adult Dose?
1mg - 4mg
1mg (0.1mg/kg)- TBI, Hyperthermia, Sympathomimetic/Anticholinergenic, TCP/DC, Organophosphate, Anxiety, Alcohol W/D,
2mg (0.1mg/kg) - Restraint
4mg - (0.1mg/kg) Seizure

1/10th of the adult dose

1-5 minutes

8mg and 2mg respectively but highly dependeng on indication
