Exact MOA unknown but it’s thought to inhibit prostaglandins and stimulate serotonigenic pathways in the CNS
Acetaminophen Indications?
-Mild to moderate pain
-Fever
Acetaminophen Contraindications?
-Hypersensitivity
-Severe hepatic impairment or liver disease
Acetaminophen Side Effects/Precautions?
-Nausea
-Vomiting
-Constipation
-Headache
Acetaminophen Adult Dose?
Fever:
1g IV/IO over 15 min
500mg-1000mg PO
Pain: 1g IV/IO
Acetaminophen Pediatric Dose?
15mg/kg. PO
Acetaminophen Onset of Action?
30-60 minutes
Acetaminophen Duration of Action?
3-8 hours
Acetaminophen Max Dose Adult/Pediatric?
not to exceed 1g/daily

PO/IV/IO
