the exact mechanisim is unknow but it’s main action seems to be as a dopamine D2 and A1 receptor antagonist producing antiemetic and sedative-hypnotic effects

Droperidol Contraindications?
hypersensitivity, know or suspected QT prolongation, congenital long QT syndrome
Droperidol Side Effects/Precautions?
hypotension, tachycardia QT prologation, cardiac arrest, vtach, anxiety, hyperactivity, drowsiness, hallucination, laryngospasm, brochospasm, anaphylaxis, constipation, weight gain
Droperidol Adult Dose?
1.0 - 2.5mg
Droperidol Pediatric Dose?
0.03 - 0.07 mg/km over 2-5 minutes every 4 to 6 hours.
Droperidol Onset of Action?
3-10 minutes
Droperidol Duration of Action?
2-4 hours
Droperidol Max Dose Adult/Pediatric?
adult 2.5mg, peds 0.1mg/kg
