Enzyme inhibition Flashcards
1
Q
What are competitive inhibitors
A
Inhibitors that have the molecular shape similar to the substrate.
These then can fit into the active site and prevent the enzyme-substrate complex being formed
2
Q
What are non competitive inhibitors
A
Molecules that attach to the allosteric site, altering the shape of the active site so the substrate no longer fits the enzyme, meaning the enzyme-substrate complex cannot be formed
