all eczema is dermatitis but not all dermatitis is eczema
type of dermatitis
Spongiosis (spongiotic eczema)— pathological pattern where intracellular rode a seen with perivascular inflammation of the dermis. There are small blue lymphocytes following the vascular patterns. There is stretching of intracellular bridges, resulting in collection of fluid from Edema. The more intense, the more vesicles that will be seen. G
3 clinical patterns fo eczema
- acute spongiotic reaction with vessiculation. weeping, erythematous plaque
- sub-acute: “wet eczema”: vessicle is rare but fluid from vesicles is seen
- chronic: dry red patches sometimes with lichenification
this person was in contact with a questionable plant. what is going on?
allergic contact dermatitis. Generates an acute spongiotic eczematous reaction due to cell mediated allergy.
seborrheic dermatitis- always check naso-labial folds– most common spot.
Seb-dermatitis in scalp: greasy and bran like because of associations of yeast— yeast-targeting treatments are helpful..
