Digoxin Flashcards
1
Q
Mech of action?
A
Negatively chronotropic and positively inotropic
Decreases heart rate, increases contractility
Increases vagal tone
Less conduction at the AV node, slowing down ventricular rate.
In HF, it inhibits the Na/K ATP ase so sodium accumulates inside cells, so Ca does too-more contractile force
2
Q
I?
A
AF, atrial flutter to reduce ventricular rate
severe HF-third line or earlier of existing AF
3
Q
C?
A
arrhythmias, renal failure, hypokalaemia, hypomagnesia, hypercalcaemia, loop and thiazides, amiodarone, CCB spironolactone and guinine
4
Q
A?
A
bradycardia, GI, rash, dizziness, visual disturbances, arrhythmias, digoxin toxicity
