Bind to muscarinic receptors as a competitive inhibitor of Ach-Increased heart rate and conduction, reduced smooth muscle tone and peristaltic contractions in the gut and urinary tract. Also there are less secretions from glands in the resp tract and gut. Relaxation of pupillary constrictor and ciliary muscles, causing pupillary dilatation and preventing accommodation respectively.

Atropine-first-line in bradycardia
first-line in IBS
Reduce copious resp secretions in the dying patient.

angle-closure glaucoma (increased IOP), arrhythmias, TCA’s/other drugs with anti-mus effects
A
tachycardia, dry mouth and constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision. Central effects eg drowsiness and confusion.
