Day 3.5 Only 2 Organ Systems Flashcards
Cardiovascular system
Organs: Heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries), blood.
Function: Blood vessels transport blood carrying oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, and waste; the heart pumps blood.
Arteries: Carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart.
Veins: Bring oxygen-poor blood back to the heart.
Capillaries: Exchange gases and nutrients between blood and tissues.
Lymphatic System (Immune System)
Lymphatic vessels: Pick up lymph fluid from tissues and transport it to the lymph nodes.which then goes back in the blood stream
Lymph nodes: Filter lymph fluid, dispose of debris, house lymphocytes, and activate immune responses.
Spleen: Filters blood, removes old red blood cells, and produces T and B cells.
Thymus: Produces and matures T cells for immune defense.
Tonsils: Clean air entering the mouth/nose and trap pathogens.
