Cardiac Conduction and ECG. Flashcards
What is the Sinoatrial node?
Initiating region for electrical impulse.
What is the atrioventricular node?
Delay node to enable ventricular filling.
What are the bundle branches?
Electrical conductance pathways through left and right myocardium, include bundle of His.
What are the purkinje fibres?
Specialised cardiac myocyte cells which are responsible for translating electrical impulse into contractile force.
How many times does the SA node fire in order to initiate a heartbeat?
Around 80 - 100 beats per minute.
What is the purpose of prepulse potential?
Sets pace for firing of electrical activity in the heart.
What is the steps for cell to cell communication?
Electrical Activity -> Action Potential Firing -> Depolarisation -> Contraction of Cardiomyocytes.
What is the purpose of an ECG?
Measures the electrical activity in the heart.
What does an ECG record?
Records atrial and ventricular depolarisation and repolarisations.
What is the P wave?
Atrial Depolarisation
What is the QRS complex?
Ventricular Depolarisation
What is the T wave?
Ventricular Repolarisation
