you need to join your states chapter, when you pay dues, you’re paying a fee to the APTA and a separate fee for the state chapter
How many chapters is the APTA divided into?
51, 50 states + Washington DC
How many districts?
It depends on the population of the state chapters. Nevada has two, North and South
How often do chapters have meetings?
Bi-annually
How often do districts have meetings?
Once a month, or once every 2 months
HOD
House of Delegates, policy making body of the APTA
Caucus
Certain members are voted on to attend HOD meetings (around 400 people are chosen by people from each chapter, this caucus is held to see who is voted)
How many sections?
18, based on similar interests such as pediatrics, women’s PT, geriatrics, cancer patients, etc…

Specialty certificates
credentials to put after name, for PTs to get, you need to be in the profession for 5 years, take a certain amount of CEUs, have practice in that area, and take a specialty exam
Recognition of advanced proficiency
For PTAs I think, you need to be in the profession for a certain amount of years, and amount of CEUs, you need practice in the area, but you don’t need an exam. You must apply
CAPTE
Commission on Accreditation on Physical Therapy Education: It accredits schools
PAC
political action committee, works with lobbyists for government crap
FSBPT
Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. Organization responsible for licensure and regulation of PTs and PTAs, administer the NPTE exam for licensure.
