The TFD Fire Communications Supervisor
The TFD Fire Communications Supervisor shall be responsible for
ensuring that spare radios are issued, repaired and/or replaced in accordance with the terms of this policy.
The FCC Shift Supervisor shall be responsible for:
- Issuing spare radios in accordance with the terms of this policy.
- Documenting all transactions in accordance with the procedures outlined in this document.
- Coordinating with other TFD personnel as necessary to issue spare portable
radios.
The Fire Garage Supervisor shall be responsible for
ensuring that mobile radios are repaired and/or replaced in accordance with the terms of this policy.
Define
Radio Service Center
City of Tacoma radio repair shop located in the Fleet Services Building.
The maximum number of radios available for events is
24
In the case of unauthorized use, the Shift Officer shall
contact the Radio Service Center immediately to disable the lost portable radio.
On the business day an e-mail report of a lost or broken portable radio is received, a Radio Service Center technician will
bring to the FCC replacement radios for the spares issued.
Lost radios shall be reprogrammed with
the word “lost” added to the
radio ID display that appears at FCC.
The Fire Communications Supervisor shall
a. Contact the Radio Service Center to disable the lost portable radio after 48 hours have elapsed.
b. E-mail the Assistant to the Chief for Budget and Finance to report the return of the lost radio.
For lost radio
Before going off shift, prepare an e-mail detailing:
a. The last known location of the radio.
b. Circumstances surrounding the loss.
c. Actions taken to recover the radio.
d. Actions taken to secure a replacement radio.
For lost radio
Send the e-mail to the FCC supervisor with copies to:
a. FCC ABC.
b. The affected Battalion Chief.
c. The Company Captain.
Fill out and forward the City of Tacoma Loss to Assets report to
the FCC Supervisor.
