The Administrative Battalion Chief for Safety
Who is responsible for conducting and documenting monthly safety inspections of the fire stations assigned to them in accordance with the guidance set forth in this document.
Battalion Chiefs
The Administrative Battalion Chief for Safety shall work with the Deputy Chief of Support Services to ensure that
needed station and/or facility
repairs are brought forward in a timely manner.
The Deputy Chief of Prevention and Preparedness shall work together with
other City departments and/or private contractors as appropriate to ensure
that needed repairs are scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
TFD Battalion Chiefs shall conduct monthly safety inspections of TFD stations and the Fire Communications Center (FCC) according to the following assignments:
a. Battalion 1A – Station 1 and Station 16
b. Battalion 1B – Station 14 and Station 17
c. Battalion 1C – Station 6 and Station 13
d. Battalion 1D – Station 4 and Station 9
e. Battalion 2A – Station 2, Station 7 and Station 15
f. Battalion 2B – Station 10 and Station 12
g. Battalion 2C – Station 8 and FCC
h. Battalion 2D – Station 3 and Station 11
- Battalion Chiefs shall not delegate station and/or facility inspections.
The Administrative Battalion Chief for Safety, in cooperation with the City
of Tacoma’s Safety Officer, shall conduct annual inspections of the following other TFD facilities
a. Fire Electrical Shop and shop storage space next to FCC
b. Fire Garage and Fire Boat Shop behind the Electrical Shop
c. TFD Headquarters
d. Prevention & Education
e. Training Center
f. Station 5
g. Old Station 12
h. Old Station 15
i. Emergency Operations Center
