Lipid lowering - statin
Tobacco - stop smoking
Sugar - diabetic control

How does posterior stroke present?
- Homonymous hemianopia
- Unilateral hemiparesis and/or hemisensory loss of arm,leg and face
- Higher cognitive dysfunction e.g. dysphasia
Full = all 3
Partial = 2/3
Lacunar = internal capsule, thalamus and basal ganglia
1 of:
- pure sensory stroke
- unilateral weakness
- ataxic hemiparesis
Posterior
1 of:
- isolated homonymous heminopia
- LOC
- cerebellHar or brainstem sx
How can you tell if CSF is bacterial or viral infection?
CSF glucose <1/2 of serum glucose?
Yes = bacterial
No = viral
bacteria are using the glucose
Straight lines appear curvy

- Analgesia and physio
- MRI if no resolving after 4-6wks
