Location of left and right adrenals
Right adrenal sits in a more suprarenal position.
Left adrenal sits more medially
Relative positions of the superior mesenteric vessels and head of the pancreas
Head of the pancreas always to the right of superior mesenteric vessels
Relative amounts of blood entering liver
75% from portal vein.
25% from hepatic artery.
Number of main hepatic veins
Three
How is a coeliac angiogram performed?
Pass catheter through femoral artery, through aorta into coeliac artery.
Quickly inject contrast, rapidly take a series of X-rays.
Indirect portography
After performing a coeliac angiogram, contrast flows to spleen via splenic artery.
How is liver divided into lobes?
Now divide liver into R and L lobes by middle hepatic vein (roughly where the gallbladder sits).
Used to be divided by falciform ligament.
