UH 72 - STUDY GUIDE Flashcards
How many fuel tanks does the helicopter have ?
2 Main tanks
1 Separated supply tank
with overflow to main tank
What engines does the UH72 have ?
How many horsepower do they supply ?
2 Turbomeca Arriel 1 E2 engines
760 shp each
What type of power consumers are connected to the:
Essential buses
- Consumers with low energy demand
- Consumers that are vital under emergency conditions
What type of power consumers are connected to the:
Shedding buses
- DC power consumers
Which buses are not supplied with power in case of 2xGEN failure ?
The shedding buses
What supplies the OH panel with power ?
Mainbus 1+2
or
Battery bus
What supply the shedding buses with power ?
Main bus 1+2
What supply the essential buses with power ?
Battery bus
What does the single bus bar for AC voltage, supply ?
Weather radar, mechanical gyros…
What position is the EMER SHD BUS in by default ?
And what does this position mean ?
NORM:
The shedding buses are powered if supplied by a minimum of 1 GEN or the EPU
What happens if the EMER SHD BUS switch is turned to the “on” position ?
The shedding buses gets supplied by the battery
( in case of 2 x GEN failure )
What does the three positions, of the BUS TIE 1+2 switch, do ?
NORM: Connect battery bus to main busses
OFF: Separates the two main buses
RES: Resets functions when the two main buses has been separated by a fault or protective measure
What is the purpose of “VENT ENGINE 1+2”?
When switched to ON engines begins to turn for ventilation
What is the purpose of “TRAIN ENGINE 1+2” ?
Arming the respective single engine training mode.
Allows for single engine training without reaching or exciting max single engine power
How can you reset the “gong” ?
RESET button on cyclic stick
or
SELECT key on the CAD
W/U : what does EXT indicate ?
Bottle discharge activation
W/U : When will the “Master caution” illuminate ?
With each caution message on the CAD
W/U : When will the “Master caution” extinguish for the panel ?
Depressing the RESET button on the cyclic
and activated again with the next caution
W/U : When will the fire light illuminate ?
If a fire is detected in the respective engine compartment
(Engine 1 or 2)
W/U : What does “BOT 1+2” indicate ?
Availability of fire extinguisher bottles
W/U : What does “LOW FUEL1+2” indicate ?
What is standard reaction ?
Supply tank 1+2
approx 24 kg (53lbs) fuel remaining in respective fuel tank.
Landing within 10 minutes
W/U : What does “ENG 1+2 FAIL” indicate?
Respective N1 RPM below 50%
W/U : What does “ROTOR RPM” indicate?
What sounds follow
Nro = Rotor speed warning
________
LOW 95% = beeping “pulsed tone”
HIGH 106% = gong
110% = High pitch audio “tone”
W/U : What sound is the fire warning and then will it not sound ?
Warning bell
Will not sound when it happens simultaneously with a RPM warning. Only the RPM warning will sound.
W/U : What does “XMSN OILP” indicate ?
Main transmission oil pressure warning
Oil pressure below 1.0 bar
W/U : What does “AP” indicate ?
(Sound?)
Auto pilot warning
(with gong)
W/U : What does “BAT TEMP” indicate ?
Battery temperature above 70*C
How are the signals from the cyclic and the collective transmitted ?
The signals are transmitted to 3 ball bearing control cables (flexballs)
Where does the signals from the controls get force amplified ?
(Where is it located ?)
Hydraulic boost unit
(under the roof)
Where are the amplified signals from the boost unit transmitted to ?
The mixing lever assembly
What effect does the signals from the cyclic stick have on the swash plate ?
Tilts the swash plate
What moves the sliding sleeve up or down ?
Collective input signals
What does “turbo shaft engine” mean ?
(What runs the rotor
How does the blades turn)
That the engine is powered by “Shaft power”.
(Turbine blades turns the shaft which run (turns) the rotor.
The blades absorbs hot and high pressure gas flowing over them - airfoil design makes them turn.)
