What’s go around procedure ?
- Call TWR “Go around”
- Normal climb (65 KIAS, 500 fpm) to 200’ above pattern altitude
- Continue straight ahead until clear of trafic (unless TWR calls with instructions)
- Fly to a point well clear of trafic pattern and reenter traffic in normal manner
What’s the procedure for a running landing ?
- Shallow approach angle
- Entry speed until GS rate of closure appears to be increasing - Then adjust to arrive at 50’ / 40 KIAS
- MAX rate of descent at touchdown is 300 FPM
- Cyclic adjust to attain attitude that maintains ETL
- Call out *“I will touch down at this speed and power setting” *
What’s procedure when encountering direct opposite trafic ?

What defines a steady state autorotation ?
- Rotor RPM is within limits
(PWR OFF 80/85% - 104% - 12 sec 110%) - Aircraft is at the correct airspeed
- Aircraft in trim
- Aircraft is in a position to terminate at the intented landing area
What’s the procedure for VFR planning
- Obtain weather
- Flight possible - NOTAM, charts, restrictions ?
- Heading, GS, ETE for each leg + alternate airfield
- Compute distance + flight time + fuel
- Weight and CG
What’s the standards for each leg of a VFR flight plan and fuel needed ?
Each leg:
Distance +/- 1 NM
GS +/- 5 KIAS
ETE +/- 1 min
headings +/- 5 degrees
Fuel for mission +/- 100 lbs
