Q

Outcrossing

A

where two unrelated individuals have been crossed to produce progeny. Same breed but have no closer relationship than 4-6 generations. Most recommended for purebred breeders

Q

bottleneck effect

A

when a population’s size is reduced for at least one generation. Because genetic drift acts more quickly to reduce genetic variation in small populations, undergoing a bottleneck can reduce a population’s genetic variation by a lot,

= some genes may dissapere, or gain a broader place in the population
