A
- Chiari malformation
- Trauma
- Tumours
- Idiopathic

How does syringomyelia present?
A
- ‘cape like’ loss of sensation to temperature
- Spastic weakness of lower limbs
- Neuropathic pain
- Upgoing plantars

How is syringomyelia managed?
A
- Full spine MRI with contrast to exclude tumour
- Brain MRI to exclude Chiari malformation
- Treatment is usually treating the cause
