What is the aetiology of NPH?

A

It is thought to be secondary to reduce CSF absorption in the arachnoid villi -> can be secondary to head injury, SAH or meningitis

How does NPH present?

A
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Dementia and slowed neuro function
  • Gait abnormality

A
  • CT shows hydrocephalus with ventriculomegaly in the absence of/out of proportion to sulcal enlargement
