How does chronic fatigue syndrome present?

A
  • More common in females
  • Fatigue worsened by activity
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Muscle/joint pain
  • Headaches
  • Painful lymph nodes
  • Sore throat
  • Cognitive dysfunction e.g problems word-finding, slowed responsiveness

What is NICE diagnostic criteria for CFS?

A
  • Persistent symptoms for at least 6 weeks
  • Ability to engage in occupational/educational/social activities is impaired
  • Symptoms unexplained by anything else
