A condition in which the central canal is narrowed by tumour, disk prolapse or other similar degenerative changes

- Osteophyte formation
- Hypertrophy of ligamentum flavum
- Loss of intervertebral disc height

MRI for canal narrowing

A
Laminectomy

How does spinal stenosis present?
A
- Back pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Pain goes down thighs and calf
- Symptoms similar to claudication

What causes the back pain to be worse in spinal stenosis?
A
Worse on standing and walking

What reduces the back pain in spinal stenosis?
A
Reduced on flexion/bending forward
Sitting and walking uphill
