- bacterium is usually responsible

Polyps (benign growths) proturde from the mucous membrane of the colon - (two types)
Pedunculated - attached by stalk
Sessile - sitting directly on membrane

can occur anywhere mouth to anus most common in ileum
is a form of IBD
Diverticula
small sac or puched that form on the inner wall of the intestine
