Q

What happens in MRT mode if radar bypass is not selected, and what are the implications for controllers?

A

In MRT mode, if radar bypass is not selected:

  • The controller’s working position will display MRT derived tracks.
  • These tracks are updated when all contributing radars have updated, so they are not in sync.
  • MRT can result in different track speeds, levels, etc., compared to another position in bypass mode due to combined updates from different sources.

Note: Use of MRT (Connected mode) is not approved for controller use on the Eurocat-c at present. Only bypass mode should be selected at Belfast APC.
